The Babassu Hair Therapy Mask is a deep conditioning hair mask for curly hair that's dry, damaged or breaking. It rebuilds strength with hydrolyzed rice and wheat proteins while olive and babassu oils put softness back — a plant-based protein hair mask, and the protein treatment in the Babassu family.
If you're protein-sensitive, the protein-free Babassu Deep Conditioner is yours instead. Two jars, two jobs.
Who it's for
Natural, relaxed and color-treated hair that's heat-styled, highly porous or breaking. Not sure which you need? Try the stretch test: gently pull a wet strand. If it stretches a lot and feels mushy before it snaps, it's time for a protein treatment for curly hair — this mask. If it snaps fast with little stretch, you need moisture — the Deep Conditioner.
What's inside this deep conditioning hair mask
-
Hydrolyzed rice + wheat proteins — "hydrolyzed" means broken into small, water-soluble pieces, small enough to absorb and settle into worn spots along the strand, so hair gets its strength and bounce back without a stiff coating.
-
Olive oil — the first oil on the label, rich in oleic acid, which absorbs and softens.
-
Babassu seed oil — melts close to body temperature, so it spreads easily and seals without grease.
-
Safflower seed oil — a light oil that adds softness without weight.
Contains wheat protein.
How to use
- Cleanse with the Coconut Shea or Neem Tea Tree Shampoo Bar.
- Apply generously root to tip on damp hair.
- Cover with a plastic cap for 10–15 minutes; add heat or a steamer for the most intensive treatment.
- Rinse with cool water.
- Follow with Curl Moisture Cream, Sweet Almond Heavy Cream or Twist Whip Butter.
What to expect
Strands feel firmer and bouncier after the first treatment. Breakage is slower to judge — give it three or four treatments. For frequency, let the stretch test decide, and alternate with the Deep Conditioner when hair leans dry.
